Marianne Brooker is a writer and campaigner based in Bristol. Her first book, Intervals, explores choice, care and creativity under austerity. Intervals won the 2022 Fitzcarraldo Editions Essay Prize, was longlisted for the 2024 Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction and a National Book Critics Circle Award, and selected as a TLS Book of the Year. Her writing has also been published in the Observer, Lit Hub and Vittles. She has a PhD in literature from Birkbeck and is currently working on a novel.
